Basic Addiction Education for NGOs

This program aims to enhance the capacity of NGOs in the fight against addiction, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively with individuals struggling with addiction. The training seeks to raise awareness among NGOs about addiction, enabling them to take on a more active, informed, and sustainable role in this field. Participants learn essential intervention techniques such as effective communication with individuals with addiction, crisis management, providing necessary support, and guiding individuals through rehabilitation processes. They also develop skills to design and manage strategic projects in the field of addiction.

  • Basic Intervention Techniques: Guidance is provided on how to develop an empathy-based, professional, and solution-focused approach when interacting with individuals with addiction. Methods for gaining the trust of these individuals and offering effective support are taught.

  • Crisis Management: Participants are trained in how to intervene quickly and correctly in emergency situations related to substance use, focusing on the health and safety of the individual while finding appropriate solutions in crisis moments.

  • Referral and Counseling: The necessary steps for referring individuals with addiction to appropriate rehabilitation centers, support organizations, or professional help services are detailed. Strategies are developed to overcome the barriers individuals may face during this process.

  • Project and Budget Management: Workshops on project requirements and budget management in the context of addiction prevention and intervention are organized, ensuring that NGOs are prepared to effectively manage their projects and resources.

This comprehensive approach ensures that NGO representatives are equipped with the skills to provide both immediate and long-term support to individuals affected by addiction and to develop and manage impactful projects in this critical area.

In this context, NGOs are encouraged not only to provide support to individuals struggling with addiction but also to engage in initiatives that raise awareness about addiction across society and offer long-term solutions. The education enables NGO representatives to specialize in addiction issues, allowing them to establish a more effective network for combating addiction within the community.

Basic Addiction Education for Students

This program is designed as a comprehensive education initiative aimed at equipping students studying in fields such as psychology, social work, and sociology with foundational awareness, professional knowledge, and practical skills in combating addiction. Throughout the education process, the importance of establishing effective, empathy-focused, and trust-based communication with individuals struggling with addiction is emphasized. These communication skills are supported by both theoretical knowledge and case-based practical applications.

Participants are provided with detailed insights into the stages of addiction prevention, from initial intervention to rehabilitation and reintegration into society, along with extensive guidance on their roles and responsibilities during these processes. The program ensures that students gain the competence to develop a professional roadmap when encountering addiction cases and to direct individuals toward appropriate support mechanisms effectively.

Additionally, the significance of a multidisciplinary approach to addiction prevention is emphasized, highlighting how individuals from diverse disciplines can collaborate to develop effective solutions. Beyond imparting theoretical knowledge, the program prepares students for field experience in the addiction field, offering them a professional perspective on crisis management and support processes.

This education initiative lays a solid foundation for students to enhance their professional qualifications and contribute as conscious and effective individuals in society's efforts to combat addiction.

International Basic Addiction Education

This project aims to strengthen international cooperation in the field of addiction prevention and bring together professionals, students, and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to enhance knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences. The education program is designed to cover topics such as international policies on addiction, rehabilitation processes, and intervention methods. Through activities such as seminars, workshops, and institutional visits, participants are offered a broad perspective on combating addiction.

The project provides an opportunity for students from universities abroad and Turkey to observe cultural differences in the field of addiction and enrich their professional experiences. Participants are expected to engage with NGOs operating in the addiction field in two different countries, examining their working principles, comparing similarities and differences, evaluating approaches to challenges, and developing solutions. This mutual exchange of knowledge aims to contribute to the establishment of effective collaboration in combating addiction.

The first phase of the project will soon take place in North Macedonia in partnership with the International Balkan University. During this phase, cultural differences in addiction prevention will be examined, and findings will be reported. The project aims to identify best practices that can be adapted for implementation in Turkey and develop new approaches to inform addiction prevention strategies.

The program's outcomes will serve as an essential guide for creating awareness and developing more effective policies at both national and international levels in the fight against addiction.
